Bringing a 2D Concept to Augmented Reality using iPhone Reality Composer
Last weekend my daughter and I spent a couple of hours designing a TinkerBot and creating it in 3D. We used an iPad Pro 2020 and iPhone 11 Max Pro hardware. Details of the software used will be specified under the appropriate sections below.
2D Concept
3D Design
After we selected a 2D design that we liked, we created a 3D version of it using the TinkerCad app on iPad Pro 2020.
AR Quick Look
TinkerCad app on the iPad supports USDZ export, so we were able to view our model in augmented reality using the AR Quick Look viewer.
Reality Composer
We then added interactive behaviors to the TinkerBot using Reality Composer app on the iPhone 11 Max Pro. Then we exported the project as a Reality file.
Finished Project
Following is the finished project in action. We are very happy with the results.
Thank you,
Satish.
